AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the formula for Jeans mass, with one user seeking clarification after reviewing Wikipedia. Another participant suggests that the Wikipedia article on Jeans instability should suffice for understanding the concept. They also note that Jeans' original work has limitations and that more accurate models exist. The key to calculating Jeans mass involves equating gravitational potential energy with the kinetic energy of gas based on specific radius and density. This highlights the need for a deeper understanding beyond initial resources.

Hello,

I have gone through Wikipedia, but unable to get what is the formula for Jeans mass.

Any one help please.....

Isn't wikipedias article on Jeans instability, length and mass enough?

Also remember that Jeans work was an early effort that has some problems, there are better models out there.

Equate gravitational potential energy with kinetic energy of the gas for a given radius and density, and then find the mass from that.

TL;DR Summary: In 3 years, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope (or rather, a system of telescopes) should be put into operation. In case of failure to detect alien signals, it will further expand the radius of the so-called silence (or rather, radio silence) of the Universe. Is there any sense in this or is blissful ignorance better? In 3 years, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope (or rather, a system of telescopes) should be put into operation.
