For finding fan performance curve where better to put static pressure probes - near the surface or near the center of the duct ?

I think it would depend upon the application that you want the fan for. You would need to specify your own measurement conditions to suit what you want to use it for. Is the relevant parameter the volume shifted per second or the speed of the air flow in m/s?
 
Volume. Should turbulence in some points of the duct add some dynamics to static pressure being measured by the probe placed right perpendicular to flow ?
 
I think it's easist first to watch a short vidio clip I find these videos very relaxing to watch .. I got to thinking is this being done in the most efficient way? The sand has to be suspended in the water to move it to the outlet ... The faster the water , the more turbulance and the sand stays suspended, so it seems to me the rule of thumb is the hose be aimed towards the outlet at all times .. Many times the workers hit the sand directly which will greatly reduce the water...
