AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the effectiveness of plastic versus aluminum foil for keeping fish fresh. Participants agree that neither material is particularly effective on its own. Instead, the consensus highlights that fish preservation is best achieved using salted ice, often stored in thermocol boxes to minimize heat exposure. Some contributors emphasize the importance of maintaining very cold, moist air around the fish for optimal freshness. The conversation also includes a light-hearted reference to a television episode related to fish storage.

As @Tom.G has stated, fish is preserved in salted ice. The system can be kept in thermocol boxes so as to reduce entry of heat from outside. That's what I have seen most of the time. Mostly, even no thermocol is used.

I had a friend years ago who called the local newspaper "the Springfield Fishwrap."

Neither. I wrap mine in very cold, moist air.

Is this the time to recommend the Two and Half Men episode "Fish In A Drawer"?
