AI Thread Summary
The phrase "without a paddle in sight" is likely a variation of the expression "up a creek with no paddle," which signifies being in a difficult situation without a clear solution. The discussion clarifies that while the former may not be a recognized proverb, it conveys a similar meaning of being trapped or in trouble without resources to navigate out of it.

Hi all,

I read in an article and met this:
"..without a paddle in sight" or " .. no paddle in sight".. Is this a proverb and what is the meaning?

Thanks

I'm not sure it's a proverb, but you may be thinking of the phrase "up a creek with no paddle". If so, it means you're in a sticky situation with no obvious way out.

Thank you cristo
