Homework Statement

How would you calculate the reaction / kick load of a cannon / mortar with a Projectile Mass "Mp", Max Pressure Output of initiator/gas generator "Pg", Stroke Length "Ls", and Surface Area of the projectile where force is applied "As"?

The Attempt at a Solution

I have been trying this with basic F=ma and KE=1/2mv^2, but haven't been successful in coming close to the answer.

Can someone aid in developing formula / solving this problem?

I was just wondering - if Pg is max.pressure then the expansion of the gas should result in decrease in pressure, preferably and adiabatic process since it is so rapid. Then the nature of the gas would be important too.
