Research career on particle physics and quantum theory

I want to do research as a physicist on either particle physics or quantum theory.For that I wish to pursue higher degrees in world's leading institutions of physics.What should be my career path after i complete my graduation in Physics which i am presently persuing.

Quantum theory is a huge area - nearly everything in modern physics is based on quantum theory in some way. It is a bit like a chemist telling you "I'm studying chemicals".
