Research Internship in Materials Science & Renewable Energy

AI Thread Summary
A user is seeking advice on short research programs or internships in the US related to materials science and renewable energy, specifically for the summer, before deciding on a PhD program. Another participant suggests checking the American Institute of Physics (AIP) website for a comprehensive list of research internships, although it's unclear if membership is required to access the information. Hey there, I was surfing the net trying to find any suitable research program, three months course or less this summer, until I decide which university I'm going to join for my PhD. Any advice is most appreciated. Btw, my major is materials science, and I'm interested in renewable energy.

P. S. In the US of course.

The AIP has a pretty big listing of available research internships and such on their site. I don't know if you have to be a member to see it though.

DRIZZLE where are you phding??

I'm not phding, yet. But I'm planning to apply for one in the US. Currently, I would like to get an internship in research, Do you have any programs offered by your university?

Not for a PhD. Get something over on the southeast coast so we can go nerd-party together!

Hey, I am Andreas from Germany. I am currently 35 years old and I want to relearn math and physics. This is not one of these regular questions when it comes to this matter. So... I am very realistic about it. I know that there are severe contraints when it comes to selfstudy compared to a regular school and/or university (structure, peers, teachers, learning groups, tests, access to papers and so on) . I will never get a job in this field and I will never be taken serious by "real"...
Yesterday, 9/5/2025, when I was surfing, I found an article The Schwarzschild solution contains three problems, which can be easily solved - Journal of King Saud University - Science ABUNDANCE ESTIMATION IN AN ARID ENVIRONMENT https://jksus.org/the-schwarzschild-solution-contains-three-problems-which-can-be-easily-solved/ that has the derivation of a line element as a corrected version of the Schwarzschild solution to Einstein’s field equation. This article's date received is 2022-11-15...
