Respiration decrease during photosynthesis?

AI Thread Summary
During photosynthesis, respiration rates are believed to decrease, which affects plant growth dynamics. The discussion raises questions about the duration that photosynthesis can sustain respiration through glucose supply. It also explores the optimal light/dark cycles for plants, particularly weeds, and the implications of photorespiration on growth and respiration. There is curiosity about the effects of elevated CO2 levels on both photorespiration during photosynthesis and respiration during non-photosynthetic periods. Overall, the relationship between respiration, growth, and photosynthesis efficiency remains a central theme in the conversation.

I guess respiration is lower during photosynthesis, or you would get max vegetation growth with 24/0 light, dark rate.
For how long can the "supply" created by photosynthesis supply respiration?

What is the best light/dark relationship for eg. Weeds.

Photorespiration
Photorespiration is a different procces than respiration and/or photosynthesis?

Does it have a negativ impact on respiration and/or plant growth or other crutial abilitys?

Can it be true:
When exposing plants to "Higher" CO2 concentraions (than under natural surcomstances) during photosynthesis, they do more photorespiration?

When exposing plants to "Higher" CO2 concentraions (than under natural surcomstances) during "no photosynthesis", they do more respiration/growth?

Can you compare respiration, growth and mitosis -activity?

A lot of questions, hope you can help!

what do you mean by lower?

do you mean how fast does photosynthesis create glucose in comparison to how fast the plant uses it for respiration?

I can't help sorry!

Yes.

I'm thinking effeciency, for how long can the glucoses levels sustain the respiration(at max)?

hrm I don't know. I tried to find how fast they are in comparison to one another on the web but I could not. I would have to say though that photosynthesis would probably have to act quicker than cellular respiration because there are lot more respirating organisms then ones that do photosynthesis and the photosynthesizing ones have to act quicker to keep the cycle of oxygen/carbon dioxide sustainable. My guess.

The study provides critical new insights into the African Humid Period, a time between 14,500 and 5,000 years ago when the Sahara desert was a green savanna, rich in water bodies that facilitated human habitation and the spread of pastoralism. Later aridification turned this region into the world's largest desert. Due to the extreme aridity of the region today, DNA preservation is poor, making this pioneering ancient DNA study all the more significant. Genomic analyses reveal that the...
Whenever these opiods are mentioned they usually mention that e.g. fentanyl is "50 times stronger than heroin" and "100 times stronger than morphine". Now it's nitazene which the public is told is everything from "much stronger than heroin" and "200 times stronger than fentany"! Do these numbers make sense at all? How do they arrive at them? Kill thousands of mice? En passant: nitazene have already been found in both Oxycontin pills and in street "heroin" here, so Naloxone is more...
