Loved him in The Right Stuff
"Is that a man?"

"You damn right it is!"

Or, as Dennis Quaid said in the movie when asked who was the best pilot he'd ever known, "Well, there was this one fellow. He had the right stuff." Shepard did a terrific Yeager.

Yeah, great set of scenes and segues. Lots of metaphors. The Right Stuff is one of my favorite movies -- I've probably watched it a couple dozen times over the years.

RIP, Sam.

Same here!

It's also worth pointing out that (as described in the Wikipedia article about him) that Sam Shepard also earned renown as an accomplished writer and playwright long before he became known as an actor -- he won 6 Obie awards as a playwright between the years of 1966 and 1968, and won a Pulitzer Prize for his play Buried Child (1978), and even starred in his own play, Fool for Love, directed by the late Robert Altman.

He will definitely be missed. RIP.
