Should I Opt for Windows XP or Vista for a Work Laptop?

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the choice of operating systems for laptops intended for workplace use, specifically the prevalence of Windows XP versus the newer Windows Vista. It highlights that many businesses tend to lag in adopting new operating systems due to concerns over security vulnerabilities and compatibility issues with software and drivers. The conversation suggests that organizations may continue to purchase laptops with Windows XP until Vista has been established in the market. Additionally, there is a query regarding the performance of Vista's "Windows Experience Index" on specific laptop configurations, indicating a need for careful consideration of hardware compatibility and performance metrics when selecting an OS.

Yeah yeah yeah -- don't give me the ol' go to Linux -- this isn't my personal computer! Anyway...

I am looking at laptops for someone at work, and I am noticing the standard sites have many laptops still offer XP as the OS. Is there a reason for this, and should I be pushing harder for Vista? Anyone have a recommendation for what version of Vista if that's what I shold do?

Thanks!

Businesses tend to lag behind the consumer world when it comes to OS upgrades. Many businesses are likely to continue purchasing computers with Windows XP until Vista has been out for a bit. The reasoning behind this is that a new OS is more likely to have security issues that haven't been ironed out yet and software and driver compatibility is generally not as good either.

Can AI do everything a human can do and how close are we to that? 2. Are corporations and governments using the promise of AI to gain more power for themselves? 3. Are AI and transhumans...

Last night I had four docs with a red circle, one with blue. When I closed the blue and opened it again it was red. Today I have 3...
