AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on solving motion graph problems involving three diagrams labeled A, B, and C, where the goal is to rank their velocities and determine the ratio of velocities between objects A and C. Participants are seeking guidance on the correct ranking of velocities, with options provided for both ranking and ratio questions. The correct ranking of the diagrams based on their velocities needs to be established, as well as the specific value of the velocity ratio VC/VA. The user expresses frustration with consistently arriving at incorrect answers and requests assistance with the attached motion graphs. Clarifying these concepts is essential for accurately interpreting motion diagrams.

I keep getting the wrong answers on a few problems I am working on. Could anybody tell me how do get the answers from these motion graphs please? Thank you! (They are attached)

The question is as follows for motion_diagram1.jpg

The figure below shows 3 motion diagrams A, B, and C. The time intervals are the same in all 3 cases, and the objects move from right to left. You have to rank the 3 cases in decreasing order of the velocities. Which ranking is correct?

a. A > B > C
b. A > C > B
c. B > C > A
d. C > B > A
e. C > A > B

a. 4
b. 2
c. 1
d. 0.5
e. 0.25

Kindly see the attached pdf. My attempt to solve it, is in it. I'm wondering if my solution is right. My idea is this: At any point of time, the ball may be assumed to be at an incline which is at an angle of θ(kindly see both the pics in the pdf file). The value of θ will continuously change and so will the value of friction. I'm not able to figure out, why my solution is wrong, if it is wrong .
TL;DR Summary: I came across this question from a Sri Lankan A-level textbook. Question - An ice cube with a length of 10 cm is immersed in water at 0 °C. An observer observes the ice cube from the water, and it seems to be 7.75 cm long. If the refractive index of water is 4/3, find the height of the ice cube immersed in the water. I could not understand how the apparent height of the ice cube in the water depends on the height of the ice cube immersed in the water. Does anyone have an...
