AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers around a spool error message encountered in Windows ME, which leads to application failures and system hangs. A common cause identified is a compatibility issue with antivirus programs, particularly those that operate as TSR (Terminate and Stay Resident) applications, which conflict with the Windows spooler. To resolve the issue, users are advised to adjust printer properties by changing the spool settings to print after the last page has spooled. Additionally, there are suggestions to upgrade to Windows 2000 or XP for better stability, as Windows ME is considered outdated and problematic. Concerns about faulty RAM are also mentioned as a possible cause of frequent application and OS failures.

one common issue related to that is a compatibility issue with your Anti virus program. This causes a conflict with your windows spooler.

Go into your printer properties, then spool settings, then select option to print after last page has spooled. See if that works.
Windows ME blows. Upgrade to win2k or go back to 98.

And try what I'm suggesting, I'm a tech.

If there is a lot of application/OS failures, it could be the RAM in your machine is faulty?.

btw: You should really be using win2000 or XP by now

I have some old RPG games can only run in windowsME.

My antivirus is the free AVG anti-virus

The spooler error is is a windows 98/ME error, not AV. It's caused by any AV program being TSR and conflicting with the spooler. I'm not certain that this is your problem, but trying the fix can't hurt.

Thread 'Urgent: Physically repair - or bypass - power button on Asus laptop'
Asus Vivobook S14 flip. The power button is wrecked. Unable to turn it on AT ALL. We can get into how and why it got wrecked later, but suffice to say a kitchen knife was involved: These buttons do want to NOT come off, not like other lappies, where they can snap in and out. And they sure don't go back on. So, in the absence of a longer-term solution that might involve a replacement, is there any way I can activate the power button, like with a paperclip or wire or something? It looks...
In my discussions elsewhere, I've noticed a lot of disagreement regarding AI. A question that comes up is, "Is AI hype?" Unfortunately, when this question is asked, the one asking, as far as I can tell, may mean one of three things which can lead to lots of confusion. I'll list them out now for clarity. 1. Can AI do everything a human can do and how close are we to that? 2. Are corporations and governments using the promise of AI to gain more power for themselves? 3. Are AI and transhumans...
