Uploading posts from phpBB to vBulletin

In summary, to transfer posts from phpBB to vBulletin, you will need to use a data importer tool which will preserve all formatting and data. It is possible to transfer posts without losing any data and the process can handle large forums with thousands of posts. While technical knowledge may be helpful, it is not necessary and the process should not affect your forum's SEO ranking as long as the URLs remain the same. It is recommended to consult with an SEO specialist before making any major changes.

I'm about to purchase vBulletin :uhh: and I want upload all of my posts and users onto the new site. I've read about vBulletin's import feature but am not completely sure on how it works. Do I need to make a full database backup and then upload the whole database? Any suggestions?

I think I've pretty much resolved this. I found the vBulletin page that describes how to import a forum. Has anybody done this before? How did it go?

Hi there,

Congratulations on your decision to switch to vBulletin! The import feature in vBulletin is a very useful tool that allows you to easily transfer all your posts and users from phpBB to vBulletin. You do not need to make a full database backup, as the import process will handle that for you.

To start the import process, you will first need to download the phpBB to vBulletin conversion tool. This can be found on the vBulletin website under the "Downloads" section. Once you have downloaded the tool, you can follow the step-by-step instructions provided in the vBulletin documentation to complete the import.

In summary, the import process involves exporting your phpBB database and then importing it into vBulletin using the conversion tool. It is important to note that the import process may take some time, depending on the size of your database. Once the import is complete, you will have all your posts and users transferred to your new vBulletin site.

If you encounter any issues during the import process, you can always reach out to vBulletin support for assistance. They are very knowledgeable and will be able to guide you through any problems you may encounter.

I hope this helps answer your question and I wish you all the best with your new vBulletin site!
