AI Thread Summary
Concerns about insufficient vitamin and mineral intake arise from a diet primarily consisting of white bread, eggs, cheese, meat, macaroni, rice, milk, potatoes, and oatmeal, with limited fruits and vegetables. The discussion emphasizes the importance of consulting a doctor for tests to identify any deficiencies before considering supplements. While multi-vitamin pills may provide short-term benefits, they are not a substitute for a balanced diet, and the consensus suggests that obtaining nutrients from food is preferable for overall health, both in youth and later in life.

I'm worried I'm not taking in enough vitamins and minerals in my body. My daily diet usually consists of white bread, eggs, cheese, chicken or meat, often macaroni or rice, milk, potatoes, and oatmeal. I only consume some vegetables and fruits here and there (and not much either).

Does taking multi-vitamin pills as a 19 year old really make the difference in the short term? How about later on in life as a senior citizen?

Please check with your doctor, he will need to run tests to determine if you have deficiencies. It is always best to get all you need from food, supplements are not thought to be the same.
