What are some resources for understanding thermodynamic cycles?

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on seeking resources for understanding Carnot and Rankine cycles in chemical engineering thermodynamics. Participants express a need for comprehensive materials, including books, video lectures, and online notes, that clarify the formulas and their derivations. A specific resource is mentioned, a course link from the University of Waterloo that focuses on mechanical engineering and includes the Rankine cycle, indicating a preference for structured academic content. The emphasis is on finding effective self-learning tools to grasp these thermodynamic concepts.

I'm taking chemical engineering thermodynamics right now and I'm a little confused about Carnot and Rankin Cycles and some other stuff. I was wondering what are some good resources like books, video lectures, online notes, etc... that help explain the formulas and how they're derived and just for self learning?

Thanks!

TL;DR Summary: I want to do a PhD in applied math but I hate group theory, is this a big problem? Hello, I am a second-year math and physics double major with a minor in data science. I just finished group theory (today actually), and it was my least favorite class in all of university so far. It doesn't interest me, and I am also very bad at it compared to other math courses I have done. The other courses I have done are calculus I-III, ODEs, Linear Algebra, and Prob/Stats. Is it a...
