AI Thread Summary
A high school senior seeks recommendations for accessible chemistry resources to solidify their understanding before college, expressing concern over a lack of knowledge despite passing a basic chemistry class. They mention familiarity with terms like "valence electrons" but feel unprepared. Suggestions include using "Khan Academy" for foundational concepts and exploring AP and SAT II review books, which, while not necessary for practice exams, contain valuable information for building a solid chemistry foundation. The focus is on finding materials that are easy to understand and will provide a comprehensive overview of essential chemistry concepts.

I'm a high school senior who has taken a basic Chemistry class about two years ago. I passed the class easily, but I learned absolutely nothing. Although I'm familiar with some terms like "valence electrons" [the electrons on the outermost shell of an atom.. I think].

I am looking for a good handy book that will help me understand what I need to know about Chemistry before I go off to college. Knowledge that will be of great use to me and will put me ahead perhaps. Any suggestions? Whether it is a textbook or a self-teach book or whatever, any help? Preferably something that someone like me can understand without too much trouble. I have been going over the basics of Chemistry using "Kahn Academy" on youtube, which has taken me through basic electron configuration.

maybe try looking into AP and SAT II review books on the subject. you probably won't need the practice exams, but they have a lot of good information.

Thread 'How to make Sodium Chlorate by Electrolysis of salt water?'
I have a power supply for electrolysis of salt water brine, variable 3v to 6v up to 30 amps. Cathode is stainless steel, anode is carbon rods. Carbon rod surface area 42" sq. the Stainless steel cathode should be 21" sq. Salt is pure 100% salt dissolved into distilled water. I have been making saturated salt wrong. Today I learn saturated salt is, dissolve pure salt into 150°f water cool to 100°f pour into the 2 gallon brine tank. I find conflicting information about brine tank...

I tracks prices of Pt, Pd, Ru, Ir and Ru. Of the 5 metals, rhodium (Rh) is the most expensive. A year ago, Rh and Ir...
