AI Thread Summary
Designing hardware circuits can be more challenging than software design, depending on whether the focus is on analog or digital circuits. Digital design often parallels software design, utilizing hardware description languages like VHDL or Verilog, while analog design involves more estimation and computer simulations with different software tools. Salary potential varies between hardware and software designers, influenced by specialization and market demand. Ultimately, choosing a career in hardware circuit design should be based on personal interest in the field rather than solely on financial incentives.

Is designing the hardware circuits more difficult than designing software? Can a hardware circuit designer earn more money than a software designer? What subjects do I need to study if I want to make a career as a hardware circuit designer?

It depends on what type of hardware you want to design, analog or digital. Digital design is basically software design. You'll use a hardware description language like VHDL or Verilog to design the circuits. If you go the analog route, depending on what you specialize you'll use a different software package. Analog is less programming, and more estimated calcalcations and running computer simulations.

In terms of which pays more, it really depends. I would say, don't do it for the money, but rather which type of circuit design do you enjoy more.

In my discussions elsewhere, I've noticed a lot of disagreement regarding AI. A question that comes up is, "Is AI hype?" Unfortunately, when this question is asked, the one asking, as far as I can tell, may mean one of three things which can lead to lots of confusion. I'll list them out now for clarity. 1. Can AI do everything a human can do and how close are we to that? 2. Are corporations and governments using the promise of AI to gain more power for themselves? 3. Are AI and transhumans...
Thread 'ChatGPT Examples, Good and Bad'
I've been experimenting with ChatGPT. Some results are good, some very very bad. I think examples can help expose the properties of this AI. Maybe you can post some of your favorite examples and tell us what they reveal about the properties of this AI. (I had problems with copy/paste of text and formatting, so I'm posting my examples as screen shots. That is a promising start. But then I provided values V=1, R1=1, R2=2, R3=3 and asked for the value of I. At first, it said...
