AI Thread Summary
A step-up transformer with 100 turns on the primary and 300 on the secondary would not produce output voltage if there is no input voltage or if the transformer is faulty. Factors such as an open circuit, short circuit, or core saturation could also lead to no output. For the second question, the induced EMF can be calculated using Faraday's law, which states that EMF is equal to the negative change in magnetic flux over time. In this case, the change in magnetic flux is 0.4 webers over 0.25 seconds, leading to an induced EMF in a coil of 200 turns. Understanding these principles is crucial for diagnosing transformer issues and calculating induced EMF.

Just need help with 2 questions
If someone can just give me the formula for the second question i should be right.

Q1.
A step-up transformer has 100 turns on its primary coil and 300 turns on its secondary coil. Under what conditions would an input voltage of 240V not produce any output voltage?

Q2. If the magnetic flux passing through a coil changes from .3 webers to .7 webers in .25 secs, What is the EMF induced in a coil of 200 turns?

For question two, all you need is Faraday's law.

Thread 'Variable mass system : water sprayed into a moving container'
Starting with the mass considerations #m(t)# is mass of water #M_{c}# mass of container and #M(t)# mass of total system $$M(t) = M_{C} + m(t)$$ $$\Rightarrow \frac{dM(t)}{dt} = \frac{dm(t)}{dt}$$ $$P_i = Mv + u \, dm$$ $$P_f = (M + dm)(v + dv)$$ $$\Delta P = M \, dv + (v - u) \, dm$$ $$F = \frac{dP}{dt} = M \frac{dv}{dt} + (v - u) \frac{dm}{dt}$$ $$F = u \frac{dm}{dt} = \rho A u^2$$ from conservation of momentum , the cannon recoils with the same force which it applies. $$\quad \frac{dm}{dt}...
