What do you call Generation of electricity using waste heat

AI Thread Summary
The generation of electricity using waste heat from processes is commonly referred to as heat recovery. Some participants suggest terms like combined cycle, particularly in the context of natural gas, while others mention co-generation as a fitting description. There is a distinction made between waste-to-energy, which involves garbage, and the recovery of heat from industrial processes. Additionally, waste heat to power (WHP) is also mentioned as a relevant term. Overall, the discussion highlights various terminologies used to describe the conversion of waste heat into electricity.

No, that's garbage, not waste heat. I would just call it heat recovery.

That's true for when the waste heat comes from another heat engine, which isn't always the case.
