What is the max magnification of 0.5mm film lens.

In summary, the maximum magnification of a 0.5mm film lens depends on the radius of curvature and cannot be definitively determined. However, it is possible to substitute a spherical lens with a stepped lens and there is a formula for magnification using Fresnel page magnifiers.

What is the max magnification of 0.5mm film lens.

Film is just on the top of flat object(Paper, Display, Picture, etc).
If Fresnel lens is made on top of the film, Can I magnify the object?

Thank you.

The way a 'film' lens depends on the radius of curvature of the lens from which it was developed so you cannot have a definitive answer to your question. See this link. which shows how a spherical lens can be substituted with a stepped (thin) lens.
There is a reference to fresnel page magnifiers in this link. and the magnification formula is there.

What is the max magnification of 0.5mm film lens?

The maximum magnification of a 0.5mm film lens depends on several factors, including the lens construction, focal length, and sensor size of the camera it is used on. In general, a 0.5mm film lens can typically achieve a maximum magnification of around 0.1x to 0.2x.

How does the max magnification of a 0.5mm film lens compare to other lenses?

Compared to other lenses, a 0.5mm film lens typically has a lower maximum magnification due to its small size and construction. Other lenses, such as macro lenses, can achieve much higher magnification ratios, often up to 1x or greater.

Is the max magnification of a 0.5mm film lens affected by the camera it is used on?

Yes, the camera's sensor size and resolution can impact the maximum magnification of a 0.5mm film lens. A camera with a larger sensor and higher resolution will generally allow for a higher maximum magnification compared to a smaller sensor and lower resolution camera.

Can the max magnification of a 0.5mm film lens be increased?

The maximum magnification of a 0.5mm film lens is limited by its construction and design. However, some techniques such as using extension tubes or close-up filters can slightly increase the magnification, but it may also result in a decrease in image quality.

What is the practical use of a 0.5mm film lens with a low max magnification?

A 0.5mm film lens may not have a high maximum magnification, but it can still be useful for capturing wide-angle shots with a unique perspective. It can also be used for product photography or landscape photography, where the subject is not necessarily macro but still requires a wide field of view.
