AI Thread Summary
The discussion revolves around the classification of transcription factors Oct4 and Sox3, specifically whether they act as activators or repressors in stem cells. The original question lacks contextual clues, leading to uncertainty in determining their role. The responder suggests that these factors are likely activators, as they are involved in directing stem cell development. However, the ambiguity in the question highlights the need for additional context regarding the structure or function of these transcription factors to make a definitive classification.

I came across this question in my assignment asking this and i am not sure if they represent activators or repressors because the question jus stated that "Oct 4, Sox 3 are transcription factors that are present in stem cells only. Explain what type of transcription factors they represent." There is hardly any contextual clue to deduce so but my attempt is they are probably activators to direct the development of the stem cells?

Thanks for any clarification!

What type? One could look at the structure or function of the transcription factor, the question is not clear in this context.

The study provides critical new insights into the African Humid Period, a time between 14,500 and 5,000 years ago when the Sahara desert was a green savanna, rich in water bodies that facilitated human habitation and the spread of pastoralism. Later aridification turned this region into the world's largest desert. Due to the extreme aridity of the region today, DNA preservation is poor, making this pioneering ancient DNA study all the more significant. Genomic analyses reveal that the...
Whenever these opiods are mentioned they usually mention that e.g. fentanyl is "50 times stronger than heroin" and "100 times stronger than morphine". Now it's nitazene which the public is told is everything from "much stronger than heroin" and "200 times stronger than fentany"! Do these numbers make sense at all? How do they arrive at them? Kill thousands of mice? En passant: nitazene have already been found in both Oxycontin pills and in street "heroin" here, so Naloxone is more...
