AI Thread Summary
A physics bachelor's student from Indonesia, currently focusing on electronics and instrumentation with an interest in microcontrollers and control systems, seeks advice on pursuing aerospace studies in Germany. The discussion highlights the necessity of taking additional undergraduate engineering courses in mechanics, structures, and thermodynamics to transition into aerospace, as these subjects are not typically covered in a physics curriculum. It is suggested that at least two full years of engineering coursework may be required to qualify for aerospace studies. The student acknowledges the need for further education and expresses gratitude for the guidance provided.

i am physics bachelors student from Indonesia, and now i have 5 semesters passed. i choose electronics and instrumentation physics here, and focus in microcontroler, and controlling system. i have read many question before, and read the answer, but maybe i have a little question here. which university will match if i want to study aerospace ? i have a plan to get study at the Germany, and my focus maybe in airplane controlling system.
sorry if there any mistakes on my words, my english isn't good enough.
Thanks Before

I really cannot say much about German universities (although I know that there are many fine ones), but in general, I think you should plan to take some undergraduate courses in mechanics, structures, thermodynamics, and a few other areas. There is more to these courses in an engineering curriculum than you would get in a typical physics curriculum.

so, maybe i must take another graduate to get into aerospace, yeah i think you right about that, because here, in physics i just learn about basic thing in electronics and microcontroler. but, is it possible if i get in aerospace directly from physics? or the word "courses" from your reply mean a short courses about engineering ?
sorry if there any mistakes on my words

The word courses, as I used it, refers to full semester (or quarter) courses offered by the university.

I would guess that you will be needing at least two full years of full time undergraduate engineering courses to do what you propose.

ok, then i will look for another possibility about my choices, thank you very much for the advices sir :)

I don't know if anyone on here works for any of the well known defense companies of your country, whichever country you are from?? Also, if you choose to work in one, do you think the engineering education provide from your school would adequately prepare you for the job. What do I mean by that? Well if you work at say Lockheed Martin and you work in the latest iteration of a missile or if you work at Pratt & Whitney, they assign you to work in the team helping out with building the jet...
Hello, I graduated from undergrad a few years ago with a Major in Physics and minor in Electrical Engineering. I tried to get experience working on and testing circuits through my professor who studied Neutrinos, however covid caused the opportunity to go away and I graduated with no experience or internships. I have attempted to break into the engineering industry with no success. Right now I am considering going for a Masters in Electrical Engineering and I need advice on if this would be...
So lately, my interest in the realm of optics/optoelectronics/photonics engineering has grown and I have started to seriously consider pursuing a career in the field. I have done a bit of career research and also have done some learning on the side to gather more knowledge on these topics. However, I have some questions on what a career in these fields would look like, and I wanted to find out more about this area to know what I would be getting myself into if I did make the choice to pursue...
