AI Thread Summary
Mathematica is recommended for those seeking a comprehensive and professional math software package, especially for extensive future work. Mathcad is suggested for users who prefer a more user-friendly interface. Maple and Matlab are also viable alternatives. The choice of software may depend on specific areas of interest and the institution's available resources, which can be influenced by financial considerations.

You got any specific areas of interest etc. in mind ? If you're looking for a more extensive & professional package mathematica is the choice, however, if you want an easier interface and so forth mathcad might be it. If you can see in the long run a lot of work ahead where you need serious math software, mathematica would be the way to go.

Maple and Matlab are valid and serious options as well...

Daniel.

EDIT:This is more of a general rule.If your school doesn't have them,it's their policy.Probably money related.

That is a promising start. But then I provided values V=1, R1=1, R2=2, R3=3 and asked for the value of I. At first, it said...
