AI Thread Summary
Completing Physics I during a summer session, particularly a half-summer session, is generally discouraged due to the compressed timeline and potential for inadequate coverage of material. Many summer courses, especially those starting in July, primarily offer Physics II, assuming prior completion of Physics I. Students seeking to enroll in Physics I during the summer should research schools that provide this course in the later summer sessions, but they should be aware of the challenges associated with accelerated learning in physics.

My best friend is desparate to complete physics 1 this summer but was not able to get into any courses that started this june. There are many summer sessions that are considered "summer 2" that begin in july. Unfortunately many of these sessions only offer a physics II (they assume you completed physics I in the first summer session). If anyone has expereince with this please let me know which school offers physics 1 during summer II session!
thanks, Ed

please excuse my spelling mistakes above! Should have proofread!

I'm not sure...but I would strongly advise against taking physics I in a summer session, let alone a half-summer session. That's just not a good idea. Not only will it be difficult, but material and explanations are going to be cut out for time.

I graduated with a BSc in Physics in 2020. Since there were limited opportunities in my country (mostly teaching), I decided to improve my programming skills and began working in IT, first as a software engineer and later as a quality assurance engineer, where I’ve now spent about 3 years. While this career path has provided financial stability, I’ve realized that my excitement and passion aren’t really there, unlike what I felt when studying or doing research in physics. Working in IT...
Hi everyone! I'm a senior majoring in physics, math, and music, and I'm currently in the process applying for theoretical and computational biophysics (primarily thru physics departments) Ph.D. programs. I have a 4.0 from a basically unknown school in the American South, two REUs (T50 and T25) in computational biophysics and two semesters of research in optics (one purely experimental, one comp/exp) at my home institution (since there aren't any biophysics profs at my school), but no...
