How to find torque on planet carrier

I have the following data in an epicyclic gear train: Angular speed on ring = 1500 rpm, teeth on ring = 30 Angular speed on sun = 3200 rpm, teeth on sun = 10 Angular speed on carrier = 1925 rpm, teeth on planets = 10 (The ratios of teeth are for simple calculation assumed 3: 1: 1 among...

Optimizing Hybrid Vehicle Layout for Efficient City Driving

Hi guys, There's a project on hybrid vehicles, and the task is to design and simulate a hybrid vehicle: we have started on the basics, and have come up with a small layout as to how the hybrid will look like. Our main concern is whether the layout will work just with the epicyclic...

Exploring Air Shocks: Spring & Dampers in Cars

Hi, I see people using air shocks (eg. Fox float, etc) in cars, which function as a spring as well as a damper. The point I do not understand is, how do they function as both a spring and a damper? Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the spring he thing that absorbs the energy from let's say...

    Engine lubricant temperature reduction

I did manage to reduce the temperature by increasing pressure at the crankpin outlet (enlarged that hole) although i have no clue of the physics that transpired!

    Pressure fluctuations vs Temperature

Actually there is a system that I am looking at. I need to see if reducing the fluctuations in pressure of lubricating oil in a motorcycle engine can reduce the oil's average temperature. Atleast by 2 or 3 degrees.

    Pressure fluctuations vs Temperature

How do pressure fluctuations in a fluid flowing through a complicated pipe system (such as an engine lubrication system) affect its temperature? Does the net fluid temperature increase with increase in the magnitude of pressure fluctuations? Or does it decrease? Thanks in advance.

    Oil flow through a gallery

Lubricating oil in a motorcycle engine gets pressurised by a pump and goes to an oil gallery, from where it splits into two paths: one to the cylinder head and the other to the crankshaft, via the cover clutch. Oil to the cylinder head travels through the entire length of the oil gallery in...

    Engine lubricant temperature reduction

er... will this have any effect: drilling holes in the crankcase so that oil that lubricates the valvetrain --> piston --> gearbox --> sump through holes already available, flows more freely(? I'm confused) into the sump? Will the oil pressure decrease?

    Engine lubricant temperature reduction

I need to reduce the lubricant temperature in a motorcycle engine.? I've been allotted this project in a motorcycle company in India in which I need to reduce the average temperature to which a lubricating oil gets heated up, in an engine for one of their models. Now I did see the flow path of...
