Materials Science Experiments to find unknown material
Hey thanks for your replies. Yes I am only limited to non-destructive tests. So I can't do any tensile or compression tests. A magnetic test is a great idea, I just don't know of any other tests that will tell me exactly what material I'm dealing with. Like I said, I've tested for conductivity...- maceng7

Materials Science Experiments to find unknown material
Homework Statement I have a project for my Materials Science and Engineering class and we have were given 4 unknown materials and we have to determine which kind of materials they are. We have to come up with our own experiments. As of now, I've done the Rockwell hardness test, electrical...- maceng7

Can Mass Spectrometry be a difficult technique?
I'm just wondering if there are any difficulties that must be overcome to use mass spectrometry. For example if you were to use it with the three isotopes of Carbon ( C12, C13, and C14) where C12 has an abundance of 99%, C13 1% and C14 0.0000000001%. Based on the abundances how would mass...- maceng7

Understand L'Hospital's Rule: Strategies & Tips
Alright I think I did this one correctly lim x--> 1+ ln(x) * tan(∏x/2) I found this limit by putting ln(x) in the numerator and tan(∏x/2) in the denominator. I used l'hospital's rule once and found it to be 1/∞ so my answer is 0. Is this correct?- maceng7

Understand L'Hospital's Rule: Strategies & Tips
Hey I'm doing indeterminate products and using l'hospital's rule and does anyone have a strategy that works well in determining which function you put as your denominator? Obviously there isn't one strategy that works 100% but I'm just wondering if anyone knows a good way of determining this...- maceng7

How Many Molecules in 1 mL of a Vacuum at 27.0 degrees Celsius?
my mistake, yeah I'd definitely divide my answer by 1000. Also for sig figs, since the question says "one milliliter" how many digits should I interpret that as? Should I let the volume = 1mL, which would give me one sig fig in my answer or should I just make it 1.00mL and include 3 sig figs in...- maceng7
