High School Scientists may have discovered a new force of nature?
Ya but the other one is still 1.6 sigma off right? Still new physics until it isn't.- nolxiii

High School What's Delaying Fermilab's Muon g-2 Results Release?
How does the relate to LHCb result? I think I get them mixed up. Are they measuring totally separate things that just have to do with muons? Are both sensitive to the same or similar QCD calculations?- nolxiii

Undergrad B -> s µµ decays: Current status
Am I reading this right, if R is not 1.0, then this is 100% incompatible with SM, and not some calculation that we're doing wrong? Is there a running tally of things this rules out/does not rule out?- nolxiii

Undergrad What Happens When a Black Hole Reaches the End of Its Life?
When a black hole is mostly evaporated and it starts to evaporate faster and faster, what will this look like? How big when they start to emit visible light and how long from then until finally gone? Will these be like cosmic level bursts or quiet fizzle?- nolxiii

Undergrad B -> s µµ decays: Current status
Why only 2011-2012 for this? (if i read that right) Does it take that long to process that mountain of data?- nolxiii

Engineering Is "real" job anxiety normal (fresh graduate)?
yes normal. but if it makes you feel any better, even if you stay all your friends will eventually get real jobs and move on too so wouldn't make much difference. now actually about to go back to full time after doing part time remote for year and a half, wish me luck.- nolxiii

High School Understanding the GUT Scale: Merging Fundamental Forces at High Energies
Right on. Still struggling somewhat to build a mental model of how the electroweak symmetry breaking works, the link below I think helped a bit though. Am I understanding this right that if the symmetry just happened to break in such a way that W bosons were (nearly?) massless that the weak and...- nolxiii

High School Understanding the GUT Scale: Merging Fundamental Forces at High Energies
So I've heard it talked about how how at high energies all the strength of all fundamental forces are expected to merge together to single force, but don't quite get how you get from "all the forces have the same strength at high energies" to "all the forces are really the same force."...- nolxiii

High School Holographic Principle and the Description of Higher Dimensional Universes
^doesn't the whole black hole entropy growing with surface area thing suggest the 2d description is somehow more fundamental?- nolxiii

Graduate Is the Many-Worlds Interpretation truly deterministic?
So basically, either MWI, which is clearly crazy, or alternatively the universe depends on quantum decision fairies? This more or less sum it up?- nolxiii

Setting up 3-D rotation in web page
As far as I can tell that part is working, maybe in the zoomimage function? I dunno. At least the same code fires the event properly when I run it in console. This line is setting the name of the event to listen for to detect mousewheel scrolling. Sometimes event names differ between browsers...- nolxiii

Setting up 3-D rotation in web page
Not to discourage you from creating a sweet live-rendered WebGL solution, but it need not be so complicated. If you can export a screenshot of your graph every few degrees from Mathematica you can tie them together with a bit of JavaScript and you're all set. http://reel360.org/reel ^nice...- nolxiii
