Find period of circular disk physical pendulum
Homework Statement A uniform circular disk whose radius R is 40.0 cm is suspended as a physical pendulum from a point on its rim. (a) What is its period of oscillation? (b) At what radial distance r < R is there a point of suspension that gives the same period? R = .40 m g = 9.81...- synchronous

Calculating Spring Constant for Car Suspension | 1300 kg Vehicle Weight
Homework Statement An automobile can be considered to be mounted on four identical springs as far as vertical oscillations are concerned. The springs of a certain car are adjusted so that the oscillations have a frequency of 3 Hz. (a) What is the spring constant of each spring if the mass of...- synchronous

Uniform rod can pivot about a horizontal, fr
Rock on! Thanks for the assistance. I was thinking of the problem as a particle at the end of a massless rod. Finding the center of mass and using that in my calculations led to a correct answer of 2.75 rad/sec.- synchronous

Uniform rod can pivot about a horizontal, fr
Homework Statement The thin uniform rod in the figure below has length 2.5 m and can pivot about a horizontal, frictionless pin through one end. It is released from rest at angle θ = 40° above the horizontal. Use the principle of conservation of energy to determine the angular speed of the rod...- synchronous

Momentum, man running on flatbed
A man (weighing 915 N) stands on a long railroad flatcar (weighing 2640 N) as it rolls at 16.0 m/s in the positive direction of an x axis, with negligible friction. Then the man runs along the flatcar in the negative x direction at 53.00 m/s relative to the flatcar. What is the resulting...- synchronous
