How can coherent wave not have constant phase difference
One condition for wave interference is that the sources of the waves must be coherent, which means they emit identical waves with a constant phase difference. I can understand that identical waves means they have the same wavelength. However, I don't understand what is a constant phase...- Yinxiao Li

Emission spectrum will change under possible interference?
Hi Simon, Thank you so much for your help. This is very encouraging. My understanding is that different photons do not interfere with each other, but might interfere with himself. Also, I didn't quite understand your second paragraph, so I am trying to rephrase my question and your answer...- Yinxiao Li

Emission spectrum will change under possible interference?
Hi, When a molecule makes a transition from high energy state to low energy state, it emits electromagnetic radiation with a certain wavelength, which can be collected as emission spectrum. However, I have a question right here: For any real case, there are quite a number of molecules in one...- Yinxiao Li

Best metal mask for BOE/HF etching?
I am thinking about using a metal mask for BOE or HF etching because I realize that for normal photoresist, it will gradually peel off and affect my results. I don't know which metal is the best--so far, I see people use Cr/Au, Al, and Ni. Anybody knows which metal will give the best result?- Yinxiao Li

Why membrane for distillation has to be hydrophobic
I have a question about membrane distillation. I have read the following from a review paper about membrane distillation: The membrane distillation should be applied for membrane operations having the following characteristics: - The membrane should be porous. - The membrane should not be...- Yinxiao Li

Resist adhesion to Borosilicate glass for BOE etching
Hi all, I have had a problem in etching Borosilicate glass using BOE (6:1). As etching continues in the channel, the photoresist near the channel gradually peels off and when etching finishes (100nm), the lateral distance of peeled-off resist is big--about 6 microns. Anybody have a great...- Yinxiao Li

Undergrad How to find emission peak of emission spectrum
Thanks for your answer. I am using Invia confocal Raman microscope, and the entire spectrum is available. As you have suggested, I should use a gaussian to fit the curve--because I do need an accurate peak. I will try it.- Yinxiao Li

Undergrad How to find emission peak of emission spectrum
Hi all, I have been getting the emission spectrum of a polymer for a while. The emission peak is very important for that polymer. How do I find the emission peak of the polymer? The reason I ask this question is that if I simply select the highest point, then several points at different...- Yinxiao Li

Thermally insulating tape at high temperature (350C)
Although that is a microscope glass slide, I don't use it for microscope...I use it for my thermal measurement. My rough idea is that this tape should be sticky and can endure high temperature (350C). Most tapes I found cannot endure more than 200C. For the thickness, I suppose not too thick...- Yinxiao Li

Thermally insulating tape at high temperature (350C)
Hi all, I am looking for a tape or gel that is very thermally insulating and apply that on my glass slide to serve as a thermally insulating material. The work temperature is 100C to 350C and it should be able to work with clean water. Any recommendations?- Yinxiao Li

Graduate Fluorescence of fused silica, quartz and Borofloat 33?
I am trying to get a glass substrate, which is transparent. However, I need this substrate to have low fluorescence. I know fused silica, quartz and Borofloat 33 are transparent but I don't know which one has the lowest fluorescence. I checked google but can't find any data that directly...- Yinxiao Li
