Efficient Draw Program for Creating Scientific Figures and Diagrams

AI Thread Summary
For creating scientific figures and diagrams, Adobe Illustrator is recommended for its versatility, though it may be more complex than necessary. Alternatives like CorelDraw and Keydraw! can also be effective. Photoshop is another option, but there are simpler, free programs available. Inkscape is suggested for general vector drawing, while Dia is tailored for diagram creation. These tools can help achieve the desired results for figures commonly found in electromagnetic and wave textbooks.

Hi guys. I want to know if anybody can tell me a program which helps to do draws and diagrams. I want to do figures like those what appear in electromagnetic and waves book. For example, draw an arrow and label the angle with a line as "alpha" or thinngs like it.

Thank you.

Welcome to PF, Jga.
I use Adobe Illustrator for everything from cartoons to technical draughting, but it might be 'overkill' for what you want. CorelDraw and Keydraw! are similar, and you could likely do your stuff in Photoshop as well. I have no familiarity with any other graphics programmes, but there must be a few that are more specifically designed to serve your particular needs.

You could try http://www.inkscape.org/screenshots/index.php?lang=en&version=0.45 for general vector drawing, and http://live.gnome.org/Dia/Screenshots for diagrams. Both are free and available for Windows.

Hi all, i have some questions about the tesla turbine: is a tesla turbine more efficient than a steam engine or a stirling engine ? about the discs of the tesla turbine warping because of the high speed rotations; does running the engine on a lower speed solve that or will the discs warp anyway after time ? what is the difference in efficiency between the tesla turbine running at high speed and running it at a lower speed ( as fast as possible but low enough to not warp de discs) and: i...
