Tape experiment how to pull at constant speed?

AI Thread Summary
To conduct a physics experiment on the peeling force of tape at a constant speed, it's suggested to use a weight falling vertically attached to a string, which can maintain a consistent force. The initial attempt to use a motor was ineffective due to insufficient strength. It’s noted that using a spring is not advisable, as the force varies with the spring's stretch. Maintaining a constant force is key to achieving a constant peeling velocity. This approach will allow for accurate measurements of the peeling force in relation to peeling velocity and angle.

hi all
i'm a high school student doing a physics experiment about the peeling force of a tape.
I want to see the realtionship between the peeling force and the peeling velocity but I cannot think of a good way to pull at constant speed.
I tried to connect the spring to a motor so that the motor would pull the spring at a constant speed but the motor is not strong enough.

how can I pull at a constant velocity and measure the force with the peeling angle and all other things kept constant?

please help me! :D

Probably, you will get a constant velocity if you pull with a constant force.

One way to do that is have a weight falling vertically, attached to a string that applies the force to the rest of the experiment.

Using a spring is a bad idea, because the force will change depending on how much the spring is stretched.

Hi all, I have a question. So from the derivation of the Isentropic process relationship PV^gamma = constant, there is a step dW = PdV, which can only be said for quasi-equilibrium (or reversible) processes. As such I believe PV^gamma = constant (and the family of equations) should not be applicable to just adiabatic processes? Ie, it should be applicable only for adiabatic + reversible = isentropic processes? However, I've seen couple of online notes/books, and...
Thread 'How can I find the cleanout for my building drain?'
I am a long distance truck driver, but I recently completed a plumbing program with Stratford Career Institute. In the chapter of my textbook Repairing DWV Systems, the author says that if there is a clog in the building drain, one can clear out the clog by using a snake augur or maybe some other type of tool into the cleanout for the building drain. The author said that the cleanout for the building drain is usually near the stack. I live in a duplex townhouse. Just out of curiosity, I...
