Calculate the time needed to fill a compressor

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on calculating the time required to fill a helium compressor with a volume of 2m³ of gas at room temperature and pressure. The user seeks advice on sizing the pipe for this process, assuming a filling duration of one hour and a pressure differential of 500mbar over a distance of 10-15 meters. Clarification is provided that the goal is to size the pipe for filling the compressor, not a separate tank. The conversation emphasizes the need for appropriate calculations to ensure efficient filling. Overall, the focus is on determining the correct method for pipe sizing based on the specified parameters.

Dear all,

I would like to have your help for a problem that i face. I know that it is a little bit ridiculous, but my brain is stacked right now!

I have a helium compressor that i want to fill it with helium at room temperature 293K @ 1.013bar. This compressor will be connected with a pipe. As i want to size the pipe i assume that the filling procedure takes about an hour. I have available 500mbar of Δp for a distance of 10-15 meters.

Which method should i follow?

Thanks everybody in advance,
Regards

It's not clear what you are trying to do.

Are you talking about filling a receiver (a tank) with helium gas?

Hi steamking,

thanks for your answer..
I am trying to size the pipe for filling my compressor. The mass of the compressor that i have to fill is 2m3 of gaseous helium and i try to calculate the size of the line..! I am sorry if i didn't explain better..!

Thanks again...

Here's a video by “driving 4 answers” who seems to me to be well versed on the details of Internal Combustion engines. The video does cover something that's a bit shrouded in 'conspiracy theory', and he touches on that, but of course for phys.org, I'm only interested in the actual science involved. He analyzes the claim of achieving 100 mpg with a 427 cubic inch V8 1970 Ford Galaxy in 1977. Only the fuel supply system was modified. I was surprised that he feels the claim could have been...
TL;DR Summary: Heard in the news about using sonar to locate the sub Hello : After the sinking of the ship near the Greek shores , carrying of alot of people , there was another accident that include 5 tourists and a submarine visiting the titanic , which went missing Some technical notes captured my attention, that there us few sonar devices are hearing sounds repeated every 30 seconds , but they are not able to locate the source Is it possible that the sound waves are reflecting from...
