Can I Handle Landau and Lifschitz Books on Theoretical Physics?

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on a university student majoring in electrical engineering who has completed two years of study and enjoyed courses in classical mechanics and electricity & magnetism. The student is contemplating tackling the Landau and Lifshitz series on theoretical physics but expresses concern about the mathematical complexity involved. Responses indicate that the student possesses the necessary mathematical background, having completed single and multivariable calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations, suggesting that they should be capable of handling the material in these advanced physics texts.

Hello I just finished my second year at university, my major is electrical engineering.I took classical mechanics and electricity & magnetism and I really liked them.Do you think I can handle Landau and Lifschitz books on theoretical physics.I am concerned about the mathematics in the books, at university I've taken single and multivariable calculus, linear algebra and differential equations.

You should be able to handle them; it seems you already have the necessary prereqs.

For the following four books, has anyone used them in a course or for self study? Hi, I have notice that Ashcroft, Mermin and Wei worked at a revised edition of the original solid state physics book (here). The book, however, seems to be never available. I have also read that the reason is related to some disputes related to copyright. Do you have any further information about it? Did you have the opportunity to get your hands on this revised edition? I am really curious about it, also considering that I am planning to buy the book in the near future... Thanks!
This is part 2 of my thread Collection of Free Online Math Books and Lecture Notes Here, we will consider physics and mathematical methods for physics resources. Now, this is a work in progress.
