Homework Help Overview

The original poster attempts to create an energy flow chart that illustrates the transfer of energy to a human, computer, lights, and a ball. The context involves identifying types of energy transfers and the verbs that describe these processes.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Assumption checking

Approaches and Questions Raised

  • Participants discuss the initial steps of the energy flow, including sunlight to plants and the conversion of chemical energy from coal. Questions arise regarding the next steps in the flow chart, particularly concerning the energy transfer processes in a factory.

Discussion Status

Some participants are exploring the energy transfers involved in the process, while others are questioning the nature of the energy transformations and the appropriate terminology to describe them. There is an ongoing exploration of how to connect the energy sources to the final destinations.

Contextual Notes

The original poster mentions needing at least 10 links in the energy flow chart, indicating a requirement for thoroughness in the connections made. There may be constraints related to the completeness of the energy transfer descriptions and the specific verbs used.

Homework Statement

Create an energy flow chart that has ends up transfering to a human, computer, lights (ceiling lights), and a ball. State what kind of transfer is going on and how it is transferred (verb).

The Attempt at a Solution

So far I have

Sun---light energy, plant absorbs--> Plant---Chemical energy, Fossilized---> Coal

The next one would be factory, but I do not know what kind of energy transfer or what kind of verb (processed?). I need at least 10 links that end up with human, computer, light, ball

A factory combusts (burns) coal, which creates what?
