AI Thread Summary
Electromagnetic interference (EMI) can significantly affect the performance of devices like televisions and video equipment, causing disturbances during operation. The discussion highlights that while the harmful effects of EMI on human health are debated, similar to concerns surrounding cell phone usage, regulations by the FCC exist to mitigate these issues. EMI is described as noise that can be injected into circuits, impacting their functionality. The importance of using EMI filters in projects involving motor control of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM) is emphasized to ensure optimal performance and compliance with regulations. Overall, understanding and managing EMI is crucial in electronic device design and operation.

Hello..
Am making a project on motor control of PMSM, while am reading some articles they mention that it decrease EMI...my question concern the EMI itself, are they so harm?, and what is are the effects of them on human being?

As far as harm to the human being, it is very debatable just like cell phone usage. but EMI is basically the noise injected into the Earth wire from your circuit or from the Earth to your circuit and FCC has regulations for it.

Without an EMI filter you can easily see that any device such as a video or TV etc will have disturbance during normal operation.

Thread 'Weird near-field phenomenon I get in my EM simulation'
I recently made a basic simulation of wire antennas and I am not sure if the near field in my simulation is modeled correctly. One of the things that worry me is the fact that sometimes I see in my simulation "movements" in the near field that seems to be faster than the speed of wave propagation I defined (the speed of light in the simulation). Specifically I see "nodes" of low amplitude in the E field that are quickly "emitted" from the antenna and then slow down as they approach the far...
Hello dear reader, a brief introduction: Some 4 years ago someone started developing health related issues, apparently due to exposure to RF & ELF related frequencies and/or fields (Magnetic). This is currently becoming known as EHS. (Electromagnetic hypersensitivity is a claimed sensitivity to electromagnetic fields, to which adverse symptoms are attributed.) She experiences a deep burning sensation throughout her entire body, leaving her in pain and exhausted after a pulse has occurred...
