An elevator is running with a 25hp motor. to double the lift speed a ____ hp motor is required.

To double the lift speed should we just times 25 by 2 and get 50hp motor. Or is there something more to this.

How does power relate to speed? You aren't necessarily wrong or right, but you should be wrong or right for the correct reasoning.
 
Kindly see the attached pdf. My attempt to solve it, is in it. I'm wondering if my solution is right. My idea is this: At any point of time, the ball may be assumed to be at an incline which is at an angle of θ(kindly see both the pics in the pdf file). The value of θ will continuously change and so will the value of friction. I'm not able to figure out, why my solution is wrong, if it is wrong .
