AI Thread Summary
To effectively input formulas and images on Physics Forums, users should type their work clearly or provide well-explained images. It is important to ensure that the left-hand side and right-hand side of equations are consistent, as demonstrated in the example of a vector versus a scalar. The forum provides guidelines for using LaTeX to format mathematical expressions properly. For images, simple tools like MS Paint can be used to create and upload visuals. Clear communication is essential for receiving helpful responses.

Homework Statement
A cannon fires a ball at 140 m/s
at an angle of 35 degrees above
the horizontal.
• Find the position of the ball 9.25
seconds after launch.
• Find its velocity 9.25 seconds after
launch.
• Is the ball on its way up or down?
• How long does it take the ball to
arrive at the same level as it was
launched?
• What is its velocity when it arrives at
the same level as it was launched?
• What is the angle at which it arrives
at the same level as it was launched?
Relevant Equations
v_x=v_xi
x-x_i=v_xi(t)
𝑣𝑦 = 𝑣𝑦𝑖 − 𝑔t
𝑦 − 𝑦𝑖 = 𝑣𝑦(t)-1/2gt^2

Hello Ovreberg, :welcome: !

Please read the guidelines: if you expect helpers to decipher things like

you did not understand them. Either type your work (preferred) or post a very clear picture with textual explanation what you do.

What is your question ?

I can decipher a ##\vec v = \sqrt{...}## which can't be right: LHS is a vector and RHS is a scalar !

Hello!

It is easy to type in formulas on PF, have a look on how it is done:
https://www.physicsforums.com/help/latexhelp/Images if necessary are better seen, if it is the only focus. But mspaint and an upload will do in many cases.

I multiplied the values first without the error limit. Got 19.38. rounded it off to 2 significant figures since the given data has 2 significant figures. So = 19. For error I used the above formula. It comes out about 1.48. Now my question is. Should I write the answer as 19±1.5 (rounding 1.48 to 2 significant figures) OR should I write it as 19±1. So in short, should the error have same number of significant figures as the mean value or should it have the same number of decimal places as...
Thread 'A cylinder connected to a hanging mass'
Let's declare that for the cylinder, mass = M = 10 kg Radius = R = 4 m For the wall and the floor, Friction coeff = ##\mu## = 0.5 For the hanging mass, mass = m = 11 kg First, we divide the force according to their respective plane (x and y thing, correct me if I'm wrong) and according to which, cylinder or the hanging mass, they're working on. Force on the hanging mass $$mg - T = ma$$ Force(Cylinder) on y $$N_f + f_w - Mg = 0$$ Force(Cylinder) on x $$T + f_f - N_w = Ma$$ There's also...
