AI Thread Summary
The discussion focuses on the effect of solenoid polarities on magnetic field patterns when two solenoids are placed near each other. Participants are encouraged to reproduce a figure illustrating the polarity and magnetic field arrangement. The right-hand rule is suggested as a useful reference for understanding the direction of the magnetic fields. There is uncertainty about whether the currents in the solenoids are in the same or different directions, which affects the resulting magnetic field pattern. Understanding these principles is crucial for accurately depicting the magnetic interactions between the solenoids.

Homework Statement

A current is passed through two solenoids placed in close proximity to each other as shown in the figure attached. Reproduce the figure showing the polarity of the two solenoids and the magnetic field pattern for the arrangement shown.

Homework Equations

There isn't really an equation to calculate the answer.

The Attempt at a Solution

I always try and attempt questions but literally if I tried to attempt this I would be guessing!

I made an attempt as a guess, better than nothing!

Look up the solenoid right-hand-rule. Are the currents in the two solenoids traveling in the same or different directions?
