I'm a freshmen going into summer with neither. Does this matter that much or should I just try that much harder next year to get one?

Isn't it that Intership or Research "assistant[janitor]" is for juniors only in the US ?
I used to go for an 'internship' to a local company and I couldn't believe how worthy I was to them. :biggrin:

I am very realistic about it.
