hello i just sign up to thses forum recommended by a friend to help with mu assignment. i posted a few questions to get help on but no replies. how do i get more replies and help

We cannot help if you don't explain what you have understood from a problem, what work you have done, things you think might be relevant, and so forth.

It is strictly against site policy (and cheating too!) for us to simply give you an answer -- or even to simply tell you everything you need to do. Neither of these things help you learn the subject, and they definitely don't help your general problem solving skills.

You must learn patience. You registered and posted your questions at the time when most of our users (US & Europe) are asleep, and you are surprised there are no answers after 28 minutes?
 
There are two things I don't understand about this problem. First, when finding the nth root of a number, there should in theory be n solutions. However, the formula produces n+1 roots. Here is how. The first root is simply ##\left(r\right)^{\left(\frac{1}{n}\right)}##. Then you multiply this first root by n additional expressions given by the formula, as you go through k=0,1,...n-1. So you end up with n+1 roots, which cannot be correct. Let me illustrate what I mean. For this...
