Prob/Stats Introduction to statistics and number theory books

AI Thread Summary
For an introductory statistics course, it's recommended to look for books that complement each other well, especially given a background in calculus, linear algebra, and ordinary differential equations. Familiarity with probability is also suggested, as many statistics texts assume some prior knowledge in that area. For number theory, there is a discussion about whether to complete a discrete mathematics course by Epps before diving into number theory. "Number Theory: A Lively Introduction with Proofs, Applications, and Stories" is mentioned as a potential resource, indicating a preference for texts that provide a solid foundation and engaging content.

I am inquiring about a good introductory statistics book or books, that supplement each other well.
My math background consist of calculus 2, linear algebra, and ODE.

This is for a first course in statistics.

Also, what would be a good introductory number theory book? Or should I complete discrete mathematics by Epps first before attempting number theory?

Hi, I have notice that Ashcroft, Mermin and Wei worked at a revised edition of the original solid state physics book (here). The book, however, seems to be never available. I have also read that the reason is related to some disputes related to copyright. Do you have any further information about it? Did you have the opportunity to get your hands on this revised edition? I am really curious about it, also considering that I am planning to buy the book in the near future... Thanks!
This is part 2 of my thread Collection of Free Online Math Books and Lecture Notes Here, we will consider physics and mathematical methods for physics resources. Now, this is a work in progress.
