Is Bed Length in Ionic Chromatography the Height of the Column or the Matrix?

is bed length the heigh of the column or is that the heigh of the matrix/gel?
i don't know where to put this question, but since it is about proteins then i guess here is the place :approve:

Thread 'Fermentation using mixed legume and grain feedstock'

I use ethanol for cleaning glassware and resin 3D prints. The glassware is sometimes used for food. If possible, I'd prefer to only keep one grade of ethanol on hand. I've made sugar mash, but that is hardly the least expensive feedstock for ethanol.
