AI Thread Summary
In Egypt, the licensing for opening clinical laboratories is regulated by law, which permits chemists and biochemists to operate labs focused on chemistry if they have a postgraduate diploma in biochemistry. Similarly, microbiologists can open labs for microbiology with a postgraduate diploma in microbiology. Physicians, on the other hand, can obtain a license to operate clinical labs in clinical pathology after completing a master's degree, despite lacking prior knowledge in biochemistry or microbiology. Recently, the Egyptian Ministry of Health has proposed restricting the ability to open clinical labs exclusively to physicians, raising concerns among chemists and microbiologists about their professional opportunities. The discussion seeks information on how licensing and operational regulations for clinical laboratories compare across different countries.

I am reading Nicholas Wade's book A Troublesome Inheritance. Please let's not make this thread a critique about the merits or demerits of the book. This thread is my attempt to understanding the evidence that Natural Selection in the human genome was recent and regional. On Page 103 of A Troublesome Inheritance, Wade writes the following: "The regional nature of selection was first made evident in a genomewide scan undertaken by Jonathan Pritchard, a population geneticist at the...
