Magnetic wire or enamel coated magnetic wire?

AI Thread Summary
Using bare magnetic wire for a crystal radio coil is not advisable because it can lead to short circuits if the wires touch. Enamel-coated wire is preferred as it prevents this issue by providing insulation. The discussion emphasizes the importance of proper materials in assembling electronics for projects like crystal radios. Participants encourage sharing results after completing the project, highlighting the enjoyment of building crystal sets. Overall, the focus is on the necessity of using the right type of wire for effective radio assembly.

Same thing. Nobody winds coils using bare copper because if the wires touch together it won't work right. The enamel solves that problem.

I realize that I should of done more research on this topic instead of coming here since it is a dumb question to begin with.

It's not a dumb question. Post the results of your radio work when you're done. Crystal sets are fun.

How many crystal radios have you assembled Antiphon?
