Compression Ignition Engines: Converting kmol/kmol to kmol/kg Fuel

AI Thread Summary
The discussion focuses on converting fuel measurements for compression ignition engines from kmol/kmol to kmol/kg. The conversion involves dividing the kmol/kmol values by the molecular weight of dodecane, which is 165 g/mol. This process results in the values of 0.7027 kmol/kg and 0.7285 kmol/kg fuel. Participants clarify the reasoning behind the division, emphasizing the importance of molecular weight in the conversion. The conversation highlights the simplicity of the conversion once the underlying principle is understood.

Hey guys,

Just trying to understand this piece of information I have been given. It is for a compression ignition engine.

I can see where they get the 115.954 kmol/kmol fuel and 120.204 kmol/kmol fuel from but don't understand how to change the units 0.7027 kmol/kg fuel and 0.7285 kmol/kg fuel. They seem to divide kmol/kmol fuel by 165...but don't know why.

They're converting from kilomoles to kilograms, so they're dividing by the molecular weight of dodecane (165 g/mol).

ahh thanks a lot! Cant believe it was that simple

I don't get how to argue it. i can prove: evolution is the ability to adapt, whether it's progression or regression from some point of view, so if evolution is not constant then animal generations couldn`t stay alive for a big amount of time because when climate is changing this generations die. but they dont. so evolution is constant. but its not an argument, right? how to fing arguments when i only prove it.. analytically, i guess it called that (this is indirectly related to biology, im...
