Nominal stress for a plate with fillet radius with holes

AI Thread Summary
To calculate the nominal stress of a right-angled plate with a fillet radius and two holes, it is essential to consider the geometry and applied load. The discussion emphasizes the need for stress concentration factors, which depend on the specific shape and loading conditions. Participants suggest providing detailed geometry and load information to derive the appropriate equations. The focus is on understanding the methodology rather than obtaining a definitive solution. Proper identification of the plate's characteristics is crucial for accurate stress analysis.

By a right angled plate with a fillet radius, do you mean an angle section like this? Please be more specific. www.engineersedge.com/standard_material/Steel_angle_properties.htm

In order to get proper stress concentration factors, you'll to show geometry as well as applied load.

Yes that picture is what I am talking about. Load is applied horizontally at the highest point on the left hand side. I don't want a definite answer, just want to know what equations to use or how to go about finding the nominal stress, Thanks
