Optic lens to collimate/focus light from a LED.

Click For Summary
A lens can effectively collimate or focus light from an LED, with options available for achieving a divergent or convergent angle smaller than 1 degree. For collimation, a focal length between 10-30mm is recommended, as a point source at the lens's focal distance will produce a parallel beam. The thin lens equation is essential for determining the appropriate lens specifications. Users should clarify whether they prefer collimation or focusing based on their specific application needs. Proper selection of the lens is crucial for optimal light output and direction.

Hello.

I'm looking for a lens that can collimate (or focus far away >500mm ) a light coming out from a LED.

before I give more details is this even possible?

Thanks.

Take a pick, do you want it collimated or focused?

if the focused focal is far away it doesn't matter, I just looking for divergent/convergent angle smaller to 1 degree.

but if you want a pick let's said collimator.

A point source at the focal distance of a lens will produce a parallel beam out. So you want a 10-30mm focal length lens.

You need the thin lens equation.
