In summary, the author of the MSc thesis referenced in this conversation used a PF-thread as a source for material in the thesis, specifically pages 8-11. The conversation discusses whether the author should mention the PF-thread in her references since it appears that the equations in the thesis are standard commutation relations between the generators of the conformal group. However, the thesis has poor referencing and does not explicitly link to any of the references listed at the end.

Are there some quotes from the thread that appear in the thesis? If so can you give examples?

Almost all of the material in the pages 8-11 are taken from the first few posts in the above mentioned thread.

As far as I can see, those equations are standard commutation relations between the generators of the conformal group. I don't think your thread is the only thread that has the equations written down.

However, that MS Thesis has terrible referencing. It justs lists many references at the end of the document, without a particular link in the text to any of them.

EDIT: Well, at least ref.[1] is nowhere mentioned in the text.

Dear Sam,

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. As a scientist, it is important to properly acknowledge and reference all sources used in a research project. In this case, it would have been appropriate for the author to include the PF-thread in her references, especially since it was used as a source of information for her MSc thesis.

Not only does proper referencing give credit to the original authors, but it also allows readers to easily access and verify the information used in the research. It also helps to avoid any potential issues with plagiarism.

I would suggest that the author of the MSc thesis update her references to include the PF-thread, and in future research, she should ensure that all sources are properly cited.

Best regards,
