Engineering Pneumatic circuit diagram question

AI Thread Summary
The pneumatic circuit diagram operates by activating a piston that moves cyclically, with the positions of valves 3 and 4 determining valve 5's position and the piston’s movement direction. When the piston is fully retracted, valve 3 opens to allow air flow, activating valve 5 and reversing the piston’s direction. Upon reaching maximum outstroke, valve 4 activates, resetting valve 5 and causing the piston to retract. The speed of the piston is regulated by variable restrictors on the exhaust ports. The discussion emphasizes the importance of understanding the system's functionality before submission.

The Attempt at a Solution

[/B]
Once the system is activated the piston will begin to move cyclically. The position of valves 3 and 4 will determine the position of valve 5 and intern; the direction in which the piston will move. The output of the system is used to determine the input signal. When the piston is fully retracted, valve 3 will be opened, this will then allow air to flow and operate valve 5. This will reverse the direction of the piston. When the piston reaches maximum outstroke, valve 4 will be activated; which will cause valve 5 to reset to its original position and the piston will begin to retract. The piston’s speed is controlled with the use of the two variable restrictors on the exhaust ports of the cylinder.

Looks good to me. Or did you have another question ?
(PS PF isn't really meant to stamp-approve student's work - you should know that by now !)
