AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the potential for recycling chewed gum by separating polyvinyl acetate, a key ingredient in gum, to create new products. Participants explore methods for extracting polyvinyl acetate and inquire about the other ingredients in gum and their respective concentrations. Understanding the composition of gum is crucial for effective recycling and repurposing efforts. The conversation emphasizes the need for detailed knowledge of gum's constituents to facilitate the separation process and maximize the utility of recycled materials.

Hi, I know it’s posible to add a filler to chewed gum to recycle and reuse this gum, but I’ve been thinking about the polyvinyl acetate separation from it to get products from it, do you know how could I? Thanks.

What are the other ingredients in the gum? What are the concentrations of each constituent?

I want to test a humidity sensor with one or more saturated salt solutions. The table salt that I have on hand contains one of two anticaking agents, calcium silicate or sodium aluminosilicate. Will the presence of either of these additives (or iodine for that matter) significantly affect the equilibrium humidity? I searched and all the how-to-do-it guides did not address this question. One research paper I found reported that at 1.5% w/w calcium silicate increased the deliquescent point by...
